An Intense Feeling of Deep Affection

Katie feels the need to tell everything to Alex, tell him about her scape mostly. She had to be careful; her husband is the city’s best detective, so she had to leave absolutely no clues. That is why she changed physically, cut her hair and dyed it brown. She left Dorchester, Massachusetts directly to Philadelphia, PA. Where Katie made up many identities and had different jobs. She was moving from cheap hotel to cheap hotel until one day, she saw Kevin driving around town. It seemed like he was one step ahead of her, he was a good detective. In that instant she ran away, to New York, Connecticut, Omaha, Ohio and finally, North Carolina. Katie, was a fake name, Erin staled a dead girl’s identity. She felt safe with the name and decided to get a driver’s license; all her lessons were from Alex. They are a couple now, a couple very much in love. But Jo, her neighbor made Katie realized that she may not be in Southport forever, and she may leave. Fights over commitment and marriage were regular between Alex and Katie ever since she talked to her friend Jo. If things weren’t bad enough for Katie/Erin, she had no idea that Kevin discovered her new identity and was already looking for her. He knew her address and job.

Katie’s neighbor and friend, Jo is a grief counselor. She worked with Alex and the kids after, Cary their mother and Alex’s wife died with brain cancer. The kids were very little and innocent. Alex was just Alex. Jo began to love this family and that is why she told Katie not to mess around with them. Love means nothing without commitment.

“In the end, people who are grieving have to want to move on—that first step, that motivating spark, has to come from within them. And when it does, it opens the door to the unexpected” (Sparks 19).

Grieving and loss are probably, the worst things ever. But, it’s part of life. No one is immortal, not even the ones we love. After losing someone, life is always a little less bright, but moving on will fill that spot of darkness. Death is inevitable; yes it is sad and horrible, but learning to move on will change everything. Opening that door will be the first step of acceptance and people will learn to live again.

This story eliminates all those stereotypes for true
 love.
Since Erin had moved on, she is now Katie. Alex wants Katie to move on and follow her true dreams, but she doesn’t have any, or at least they are not too complicated. She doesn’t have a dream job and probably never will.

“Maybe I don’t want to be defined by what I do. Maybe I’d like to be defined by what I am” (Sparks 236).

It is so easy to judge someone by their job or social status. Society has imposed so many prejudices to people, that is basically normal to think less of someone just because of what they do. What a job doesn’t tell us is how kind or loving or humble or amazing someone is. It doesn’t matter if people are doctors, police officers, taxi cab drivers or even jobless, they are all the same.  And as long as they are respectful, honest, humble and good with others, then their job it is not important at all.

I believe Kevin will find Erin; he will do everything in his power to bring her back home, even if he needs to make lies telling her that he won’t hit her and stuff. But, he will forget his police badge doesn’t mean anything in Southport. Alex will protect Katie, Kevin will go to jail and Katie, Alex and the kids will be a happy family.
